Cyprus’ Nissi Beach Named One of the World’s Most Instagram-Popular Beaches
Ayia Napa has gained another reason to attract tourists: its famous Nissi Beach has ranked 11th worldwide among beaches that appear most frequently on Instagram. This is the highest position achieved by any beach in Cyprus.
The study did not simply compare the total number of posts. Instead, it measured the number of Instagram posts relative to the length of each beach. Nissi Beach had around 258,000 posts along a coastline of roughly 675 metres, which works out at about 383 posts per metre.
Another well-known Cypriot beach, Fig Tree Bay in Protaras, ranked 60th. It recorded almost 60,000 posts, or around 73 posts per metre.
The top spot went to Bondi Beach in Australia, with more than two million posts. Other leading beaches included Venice Beach in the United States, Coogee Beach in Australia, Waikiki in Hawaii, and Padang Padang in Indonesia.
The ranking method is also worth noting: shorter but highly popular beaches have an advantage. That is one of the reasons why compact Nissi Beach, with its sandy shoreline and iconic small island, managed to climb so high.

🐏 The mouflon calmly continued drinking and barely reacted to the unexpected visitor. Experts explain that a fox usually poses no serious threat to a healthy adult mouflon, so the animal had little reason to show alarm.

🔊 183 homes damaged after storm in Cyprus: how to apply for assistance
Following the severe weather on 29 August, authorities have begun recording the damage. Preliminary data shows that 183 residential properties were affected across 20 communities and three municipalities, with the largest number of cases reported in the Nicosia district. Roads and other public infrastructure were also damaged.
Residents wishing to report losses must send their name, address, phone number and photos of the damage to the relevant District Administration by Monday, 7 September.

Claims can be submitted for damage to homes, commercial properties and vehicles. The amount and conditions of the one-off compensation will be decided later by the Council of Ministers.

🏫 Couple secretly lived in a Nicosia school classroom — caught after oversleeping
▪️An unusual incident occurred at a secondary school in Nicosia. A man and a woman allegedly entered the building through a damaged window and spent nights inside a classroom, where they had even brought a mattress. To avoid detection, they reportedly damaged an alarm cable.
▪️The pair were discovered by accident after they overslept one morning and failed to leave before the cleaners arrived. After police were called, the woman allegedly threatened to damage the school before both suspects fled, taking a computer monitor with them.
No other serious damage or missing property was reported. Police are continuing their search for the pair.
