🔥Municipalities mobilize for Easter bonfires — this year's plan
Easter approaches, traditional bonfires resurface; municipal authorities mobilize to prevent dangerous incidents.
Andreas Vyras, President of the Union of Municipalities, stresses that absence of new legislation is not a permit for laxity.
Events spotted in neighbourhoods since Christmas are "clearly illegal", he says; there is no legal gap blocking enforcement.
Fire permits are granted only by municipalities under strict conditions; none have been issued this year.
Municipal crews run large operations to collect wood, tyres and waste before lighting, incurring significant expense and near round‑the‑clock work.
When crews encounter aggressive behaviour or risk to staff, policing responsibility takes over; in case of blaze the Fire Service has final authority.

🧬The "TRNC" Ministry of Health has launched an investigation into the replacement of donors in an IVF clinic
The Minister of Health of the unrecognized TRNC, Hakan Dinçurek, announced the start of an official investigation following publications by international media, including the BBC. The issue concerns the unauthorized substitution of selected sperm and egg donors at the Dogus Fertility Clinic. 📰⚖️

The essence of the claims:
🔹 At least three families accuse the clinic of using donors different from those selected
🔹 In one family, two children were born from two unknown donors instead of one selected
🔹 Similar complaints have been received from other patients

What do the authorities of the "TRNC" say?
Dinçurek stated that the media reports are being treated as official statements. The results of the investigation will be made public. Checks of IVF clinics are already being carried out. The cases mentioned in the media relate to 2016, so the investigation will be based on the legislation in force at that time. If necessary, administrative or judicial measures will be taken. 🏛️📑
Context:
The unrecognized TRNC has become a popular destination for Britons wishing to undergo IVF: low prices, high success rates, the possibility of choosing the gender (prohibited in the UK). The British regulator HFEA officially warns about the risks of obtaining such services abroad. ⚠️🇬🇧

📲EU Parliament approves ban on 'nudifier' apps
EU amends AI Act, sets clearer timetable and business support.
Parliament delays key milestones to 2027 to give time for standards and compliance technologies.
Expert Sotirios Hatzis says AI outpaces control tools; enforcement needs better tech.
Parliament also approves a universal ban on 'nudifier' apps - deepfake tools that produce non-consensual nude images or videos.
National AI taskforces must ensure compliance and shape policies to harness AI benefits.

🎤Kliridis on "Sandy": Flight Abroad, Alleged Child Abuse and Refusal to Testify
Kliridis says "Sandy" is real, visited his office and handed documents; she sought protection, did not want to file a complaint or testify. She fled abroad with her children around 2019–2023, later returned and had sporadic contact. Kliridis repeats claim one of her three minor children is fathered by ex‑judge Michalakis Christodoulou; Christodoulou says their link was 2020–2021 and named her Kyriaki Kyriakou. Documents allegedly went to journalist Makarios Drousiotis; Kliridis calls the material a major scandal.
