πŸŽ‰ Happy New Year,

πŸ₯‚ I want to congratulate everyone β€” those who have been with us for a long time and those who joined only recently.

πŸ™ Thank you for being here, for your trust, reactions, messages, and participation.

β–ͺ️This past year was mixed β€” bright, challenging, and full of events. One moment especially stands out β€” the summer wildfire in Limassol. For many, it was a difficult experience, yet it was during those days that our community showed its true strength.

β–ͺ️Hundreds of messages, offers of help, support, and real engagement β€” it meant a lot and proved something essential: when it truly matters, we know how to stand together.

❀️ May the New Year bring more light, peace, and confidence into your life. Even in the hardest moments, may there always be space for warmth, hope, and human connection. And may you always have people beside you who support, value, and believe in you β€” because you deserve it.

πŸ“° We will continue to share news about life in Cyprus, highlight what matters, and stay connected with you β€” on our beloved island of Aphrodite.

πŸ™ Happy New Year β€” take care of yourselves and of each other.

πŸŽ„ New Year in the Sea: How Winter Swimmers in Kato Paphos Welcomed 2026
Residents and visitors of Paphos welcomed 2026 in an unusual way β€” straight from the sea. Members of the winter swimming community celebrated the New Year with a morning swim at the municipal beaches of Kato Paphos, turning the coastline into a festive scene.

From early morning, New Year greetings and Christmas songs echoed by the water. Swimmers entered the sea wearing festive costumes and decorations, while a decorated Christmas tree by the shore became a symbol of the celebration. Despite harsher weather compared to Christmas, dozens of winter swimming enthusiasts kept the tradition alive.

After the swim, the celebration continued on land with festive food, drinks, music, and the cutting of the traditional Vasilopita, symbolically opening the new year for the community. Participants have already confirmed that the tradition will continue at Christmas 2026 and New Year 2027 β€” and until then, they’ll keep up their daily morning swims, regardless of the weather.
