⛪️Tychikos hospitalized in Athens
Kyriakos Kyriakou (supporter): denies rumours of a visit to Mount Athos; Tychikos admitted to a private Athens hospital with a serious health problem that arose in recent months; may require surgery.
After the Ecumenical Patriarchate ratified the Church of Cyprus decision, next moves remain unclear; the Archbishop awaits delivery of a signed confession of faith by Tychikos.
Giannis Antoniadis (theologian): if Tychikos submits a written confession accepting the councils' decisions he may retain his episcopal rank and receive other duties; otherwise the Holy Synod may impose suspension or deposition.
Archbishop expected to call an extraordinary Holy Synod to set next steps and a timetable for elections for the Paphos see.

🫰🌹Tattoo artists in Cyprus stuck in regulatory limbo
Ombudsman report: complaint filed April 2024 after an applicant who submitted registration papers in March 2023 received no written response. Ministry flagged training certificate from an unrecognized provider and noted no tattoo studios have been officially approved for required practical training. 🚘Cyprus emerges hub for UK stolen cars
Study by Thatcham Research and UK vehicle crime unit: 2021–24 nearly 7% of UK‑stolen cars traced to Cyprus, after DR Congo (38.5%) and UAE (20.1%). Cyprus cited as transit for luxury SUVs and spare parts, aided by right‑hand‑drive use and Mediterranean position. UK thefts rose to one vehicle every five minutes in 2024. Cyprus Customs say Limassol checks catch some stolen cars but annual seizures are low, five to ten. Officials say many cars may transit via Turkey to occupied areas. Authorities pledge zero tolerance on corruption and prosecutions.

👮Demosthenous Murder: Sweeps at Limassol Home
Police show cautious optimism, but investigators say that's not enough. Evidence led to five arrests, yet detectives warn the case could still fail without capturing the two shooters and their instigator. Every day without arrests erases traces. All five suspects were re‑questioned today. Midday armed units raided a monitored house in Agios Ioannis but found no people or decisive evidence. Four suspects linked to the escape motorcycle; the fifth is suspected of driving them away after it was abandoned. A 30‑year‑old inmate is also under scrutiny for allegedly monitoring the victim.

🗣️Loizidis: No show — focus on real police reform
Nikos Loizidis, president of union ISOTITA, praises frontline officers for tough work in major drug arrests but criticizes lack of support and meaningful restructuring. Calls plan to free police from non‑operational tasks a publicity trick affecting only 20–25 people nationwide (~0.5%). Demands internal reorganization: clear duty categories, tech upgrades, role-and-risk evaluation — not displays. Says a proposal to let the chief reclassify duties was rejected; progress stalled by vested interests. Urges distinct units for organized crime, visible patrols, decisiveness and real support.

🇨🇾 Cyprus Becomes “OnlyFans Champion”: Tax Authorities Expose Hundreds of Creators and Companies Hiding Income — Debts Exceed €500,000
The Cyprus Tax Department has identified around 300 individuals and businesses that failed to declare earnings from online platforms, including OnlyFans, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitch. The total amount of unpaid taxes is estimated at about €500,000. The investigation was carried out by a special unit that monitors social media activity and compares digital transactions with tax declarations.

The list includes both Cypriot residents and foreign nationals operating from Cyprus — among them bloggers, beauty specialists, drivers, travel agents, and small online business owners.

The probe is part of the EU DAC7 directive, which requires digital platforms to share user income data with tax authorities. Officials noted that some creators earned up to half a million euros per year without paying taxes. Those involved will receive notices of reassessment and fines, and repeated offenses may lead to criminal charges.

❗️In Cyprus, income from online platforms is taxed at standard rates: 12.5% corporate tax for companies, 19% VAT for earnings above €15,600, and 20–35% income tax for self-employed individuals. There is no special “5% tax” for OnlyFans creators — this is a common misconception circulating online.

🌱Cyprus: Green Energy Linked to Israeli and Defense Networks
Report: Dozens of renewable firms in Cyprus tied to tech and defense networks with Israeli links. Offshore companies, funds and dual‑use projects blur energy, intelligence and security. 'Renewable Cyprus' drew hundreds of millions in EU funds; audits spot weak oversight, shell firms and opaque ownership. Smart‑grid programmes may embed sensors with military or surveillance uses. LNG terminal and other projects face EPPO probes for delays and possible mismanagement. 🏀Chauncey Billups Charged in Alleged $7M Mafia Poker Scheme
DOJ alleges former NBA coach Chauncey Billups and ex-player Damon Jones helped Bonanno, Gambino and Genovese families defraud players of at least $7 million in underground poker. Prosecutors say Billups and Jones were "face cards" who drew wealthy gamblers while games used X‑ray tables, rigged mechanical shufflers, marked cards and sensor lenses/glasses. Shuffler data allegedly relayed to off‑site collaborators who signaled table players. NYPD cites threats and violence when victims resisted. Billups arraigned in Portland, released and placed on leave; his lawyer calls the charges baseless.

Panayiotou rejects €400K in offers, vows politics without strings
Brussels — MEP Fidias Panayiotou says launching his party triggered offers of up to €50,000 apiece, which he estimates could total €400,000.

He warned donations often carry hidden obligations; donors may expect favors or shifts in priorities.
He added wealthy acquaintances sometimes link payments to party priorities and secret deals.
Panayiotou vows a transparent, independent party focused on citizens, rejecting money-driven fundraising.
