๐Ÿ˜ขOrdeal for thousands of elderly with dementia left alone and unattended
Thousands of seniors with dementia receive no state financial support because the condition is not recognized as disease or disability. Representatives to the parliamentary health committee warned of long ER waits and treatment problems, specialist waiting lists, and costs of nonโ€‘covered medicines under the national health scheme. Many remain alone at home without nursing care. MP Nikos Ketteros said a โ‚ฌ10,000 annual grant to a Liopetri care centre was cut. Calls for new rehabilitation centres, right to a companion in ER and expansion of home nursing. Issues acute in rural and remote areas.

๐ŸฉบCyprus caregivers at breaking point
WHO: 1 in 3 European doctors and nurses show depression or anxiety; over 1 in 10 have considered selfโ€‘harm. Cyprus worse: about 80 clinicians per 10,000 people versus EU average 123. Nine in ten report workplace aggression. 38% of staff are over 55. Nurseโ€‘toโ€‘doctor ratio 1:1 (EU 2.2:1). Roughly a third of Cypriot clinicians show depression signs; nearly 1 in 10 have considered quitting. WHO warns trend threatens health systems and urges end to violence, capped overtime and confidential mentalโ€‘health support. Gesy modernised services but staffing and wellbeing lag. Loss of staff would hit Cyprus hard. Caregivers need care.

๐ŸŒณMountain Limassol fire-hit residents concerned over storms, flood works delayed
Residents of mountain Limassol, hit by the deadly wildfire, are worried about rains as flood-protection works lag. Officials say the state was slow to mobilize; Water Development engineer says works are expected to finish this month but extreme weather may occur. Reconstruction delays stem from time-consuming tenders: plots are private and each community must issue offers. Village chiefs ask the district to launch a single collective tender; request under review. Flood works begin slowly; locals rebuild homes and lives from scratch.

Occupied north: Had Takata vehicle list 1.5 years, did nothing

Autopsy found a metal fragment from a defective Takata airbag penetrated his head.
