๐ The water supply situation in the Paphos region shows positive dynamics.
The mobile desalination unit in Peyia has already reached peak performance, and work to restore the permanent station in Kuklia, damaged by fire, is nearing completion.
According to authorities, even the current modest capacities are making a significant contribution to improving the water balance and help avoid severe water supply restrictions.
At the same time, specialists have successfully completed all checks of the repair methodology at the Mavrokolympos dam.
This paves the way for its safe return to operation and the start of filling with the beginning of the new hydrological year.

๐ Cyprus at the center of an international scandal: activists accuse Cypriot authorities of involvement in secret operations by the US and Israel
Six influential public organizations have issued sharp accusations against the Cypriot government, claiming its participation in secret military operations. The trigger for this was events related to the American military transport aircraft C-17, which, according to activists, used Cypriot airspace as a transit corridor between Qatar and Israel.
According to aviation monitoring systems, the aircraft took off from the American base "Al-Udeid" in Qatar and headed towards Paphos airport. However, upon approaching Cypriot airspace, the aircraft's signal mysteriously disappeared from radars, only to reappear an hour later approaching Israel.
Activists characterize this maneuver as a "phantom landing" โ a complex operation to disguise a direct flight. "Altitude readings never dropped to zero, which excludes the possibility of an actual landing. The plane performed a deceptive maneuver, misleading surveillance systems," representatives of the coalition state.
In statements from organizations such as AFOA, BDS Cyprus, the Movement for Free Gaza, the Observer of Right-Wing Radicals in Cyprus, Cyprus Without Genocide, and United for Palestine, it is emphasized that this operation has nothing to do with humanitarian missions.
Activists claim that the administration of Nikos Christodoulides has effectively "transferred sovereign security control powers to Israel," including management of key infrastructure facilities โ airports and seaports.
The public demands immediate disclosure of:
โข the nature of the transported cargo and personnel;
โข facts about the use of Paphos airport and the naval base in Mari;
โข reasons for allowing the use of Cypriot territory to support military operations.
Local media have been separately criticized for deliberately silencing the events: "Cypriot media must demand answers from authorities and cover the use of national infrastructure for operations that contribute to war crimes."

๐จโ๐ป Cypriot IT giant BrainRocket: rumors of relocation to Spain denied, company confirms its commitment to the island and continued growth in the local market
The major technology company BrainRocket, despite widespread rumors about a possible move of its main operations from Limassol to Valencia, has officially confirmed its commitment to Cyprus. A publication in the Politis outlet caused concern among both government bodies and company employees, which plays a key role in the Cypriot economy.
In response to these rumors, the President of Cyprus held a personal meeting with BrainRocket's management, during which guarantees were obtained that the company does not plan to leave the island. According to reliable sources, this only involves a partial transfer of some employees to the Spanish office, while recruitment of new staff in Cyprus will continue.
The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry called on the media to adopt a more responsible approach in disseminating information, emphasizing that publishing unverified data damages the country's business reputation and creates unnecessary tension in the business environment. BrainRocket also confirmed that it is actively expanding its international presence, but operations in Cyprus remain a priority.

๐ Today, August 23 is celebrated as "Hug Your Beloved Day"
Under the azure sky of Cyprus, where the waves kiss the shore and the air is filled with the scent of citrus and ancient legends, today takes on a special meaning.
August 23 โ Hug Your Loved Ones Day โ is a wonderful reason to remember that it was on this island, according to legend, that the goddess of love Aphrodite was born from the sea foam.
Through the centuries, Cyprus has preserved traditions of love and tenderness. Here, the stone remembers the steps of ancient lovers, Venetian fortresses witnessed knightly vows, and Byzantine frescoes captured the faces of saints blessing the unions of hearts.
A hug is a philosophy of soul connection on earth, where every bay becomes a witness to new love stories. In embraces, time flows differently, just as life flows more slowly on this blessed island, where even the olive trees bow their branches in silent blessing.
โค๏ธ Hug those dear to your heart today. Let your warmth become part of the eternal story of Cypriot love โ one that lasts longer than the marble of cathedrals and is stronger than the waves of the Mediterranean Sea.
๐ For it is in such moments that the very eternity celebrated by poets of all ages is born.
โค๏ธ And of course, an extra reason to delight each other.

๐จ Repeat Act of Vandalism and Theft in Kolossi Park (Limassol District)! ๐จ
On Saturday, August 23, around 2:30 a.m., Kolossi Park was once again the victim of vandalism. A group of young people on a stolen motorcycle fearlessly and disrespectfully trespassed into the park area, despite the presence of local residents.
๐ท Surveillance cameras captured their actions, showing how they continued the looting without a shred of conscience. These young people systematically destroy what was created with love and hard work for the children and families of our district.
โช๏ธ Just two months ago, we faced a similar incident. The question remains: how much longer will we tolerate such illegal intrusions, thefts, and destruction?
โช๏ธ Kolossi Park was once an abandoned area where drug addicts gathered, and children were afraid to pass by. Thanks to continuous efforts and hard work, I managed to transform it into a space of joy, safety, and creativity for families.
โช๏ธ We must not allow any criminal to destroy what was built with such effort and sacrifice.
โ๏ธ "It is time to put an end to this lawlessness," report upset residents on social media!
โ๏ธ The park is meant for children, not for criminal activity. Society must not tolerate such phenomena.
๐ข If anyone knows these people or has information about the incident, please contact the police immediately. We must unite and stop this outrage!

๐ Military Base Hack in Troodos (Cyprus): Repeated Breach of a Strategic Facility
An abandoned military base, unused for 30 years and previously intended to house S-300 anti-aircraft systems, has once again become a target for intruders. On Tuesday evening, two trespassers broke into the "Point 21" facility of the Cyprus Air Force, prompting an immediate response from the Ministry of Defense and police.
Surveillance cameras recorded the criminals' actions as they stole cables from the vacant buildings. Despite the swift response from law enforcement, the intruders could not be caught on site. During the operation, a vehicle was identified, leading to the arrest of two suspectsโa 30-year-old man and his accomplice.
Both detainees were placed under five-day custody by court order. The incident highlights a systemic problem of lack of security at strategic sites, which have been repeatedly breached in recent years.

๐ Hunting Season 2025: Mandatory Game Registration via the Artemis Cy App and Safety Measures for Hunters in Cyprus
The Cyprus Wildlife Service reminds all hunters of the mandatory registration of all game through the Artemis Cy mobile app throughout the entire hunting season.
This season, special attention is given to the protection of turtle doves, hunting of which will be prohibited on the first two Sundays (August 24 and 31), and allowed from September 3 to 21. It is important to note that hunting of turtle doves will be immediately stopped once the established game limit is reached.
โช๏ธMain Requirements for Game Registration:
โข Use of the App: Hunters must use the "Game Registration for All Game Species" section for most species. For turtle doves and palm pigeons, there is a special section where each caught bird must be registered immediately.
โข Alternative Registration Method: If using the app is not possible, hunters can send SMS messages indicating the ID, species, quantity, and age of the game to special numbers depending on the province.
โช๏ธSafety Measures and Rule Compliance:
โข Hunting in Company: It is recommended to avoid hunting alone and always inform others of your whereabouts.
โข Fire Safety: Do not light fires or throw burning objects, considering the high fire risk.
โข Shell Disposal: Comply with wildlife protection laws by collecting used shells.
โข Personal Safety: Wear light clothing, a hat, and sunglasses, and ensure adequate fluid intake.
โข Study Permitted Zones: Study permitted hunting zones in advance through the Artemis Cy app.
โช๏ธImportant Emergency Numbers:
In case of fire, immediately call 1407 (Forest Department) or 112 (Fire Service).
Following these rules will not only ensure your safety but also help preserve hunting species for future generations.

๐ Cyprus ranks among the top three EU countries in attracting foreign students
According to the latest Eurostat report, Cyprus ranks third among European Union countries in the share of foreign students in universities. In 2023, every fifth student on the island (22.3%) was a foreign national.
Cyprus's figures exceed the European average of 8.4% and are second only to Luxembourg (52.3%) and Malta (29.6%). At the opposite end of the ranking are Greece (3.0%), Croatia (3.7%), and Spain (4.3%).
Statistics also show the geographical diversity of foreign students: while most EU countries have a majority of European students, Cyprus, like other Mediterranean countries, has a significant presence of students from Asia, Africa, and Latin American countries.

๐ Controversial road project to the "Andreas Papandreou" airbase: conflict between security and environmental interests
Plans to build an alternative access road to Paphos International Airport and the eponymous airbase have sparked serious discussions. The US initiative to create a backup route for emergencies has faced years of resistance from environmentalists.
Washington insists that the second road is necessary for operational readiness and compatibility with partners. The Cyprus Ministry of Defense is preparing an official proposal for the government after consultations. The project involves using adjacent territories and developing dual-use infrastructure.
The environmental service has consistently blocked the project for two decades due to its location in the Natura 2000 protected area. According to the latest findings (2023), construction will cause irreversible damage to habitats of rare species. All proposed options, including a tunnel, have been deemed environmentally unacceptable.
The "Andreas Papandreou" base plays a key role in humanitarian operations and evacuations. The US has been funding its modernization since 2024, including runway extension and the construction of a communications center. Authorities must find a balance between strategic interests and preserving the unique ecosystem, where any decision will have long-term consequences.

๐ President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides plans to carry out personnel changes in the government as early as September 2025. Decisions will be announced before his visit to New York for the UN General Assembly at the end of the month.
At the beginning of September, the head of state will hold an off-site meeting with ministers in Troodos to assess the cabinet's work and set new tasks. The summer forest fires in Limassol affected the initial reorganization plans, but the president preferred not to make hasty personnel decisions under public pressure.
The reshuffle will be selective: some ministers will retain their positions, while others will move to different posts. The changes are aimed at forming a team capable of working until 2028. Separately, new commissioners for legislation, child protection, and personal data will be appointed in October.

The reshuffle will be selective: some ministers will retain their positions, while others will move to different posts. The changes are aimed at forming a team capable of working until 2028. Separately, new commissioners for legislation, child protection, and personal data will be appointed in October.

๐ BDSM practices contribute to strengthening emotional bonds and reducing anxiety levels in relationships. - Scientific research.
According to scientific research, couples who consciously practice elements of BDSM interaction demonstrate a higher level of psychological comfort and confidence in their partner. These data refute the established stereotype linking such practices to mental disorders. On the contrary, a structured relationship format with clear boundaries and rules promotes the development of emotional resilience and the strengthening of mutual trust.
Based on the principles of voluntariness, safe words, and constant communication, such relationships create an environment of increased emotional trust. Partners learn to express their needs more precisely and respect each other's boundaries, leading to the formation of a deeper and more conscious intimacy.

๐ New EU Border Control System: How the Entry Procedure Will Change from October 2025
Starting October 12, 2025, the European Union will begin implementing the Entry/Exit System (EES), a unified digital system that will fundamentally change the border crossing procedure for third-country nationals. The system will replace traditional passport stamps with automated registration, recording:
- Personal data and document information
- Biometric parameters (facial scanning and fingerprints)
- Dates and points of border crossing
- History of previous entries and exits
The full transition to the new system will be completed by April 10, 2026. However, an important exception concerns Cyprus: as an EU country not part of the Schengen Area, the island will retain the existing practice of passport stamping.
After Cyprusโs possible accession to the Schengen Area (a process initiated in 2019), border infrastructure at airports and seaports will need to be upgraded to integrate with the EES. Since 2023, Cyprus has had access to the Schengen Information System (SIS), which was the first step toward full membership.
