๐Ÿฆ ๐ŸฆŸ A virus cripple is on the way: Killer mosquitoes are already in Cyprus!
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ Epidemiologists warn
The dangerous chikungunya virus, which can turn life into hell due to months of agonizing joint pain, may invade Cyprus. Its carriers โ€“ Aedes aegypti mosquitoes โ€“ have already occupied the island. After outbreaks in Europe (France, Italy), the threat has become real.
Why is this scary?
1. No treatment: There are no specific medications available.

2. Killer vaccines: American vaccines may cause paralysis, especially in the elderly. They are not widely used!

3. Disability: Fever and pain lasting for years can cripple lives. Deaths are rare, but suffering is widespread.

4. Easy transmission: A bite from a local mosquito after contact with an infected tourist is enough.

At-risk groups:
โ€ข Infants
โ€ข Seniors 65+
โ€ข People with cardiovascular diseases, asthma, diabetes
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ How to protect yourself? Only this way:
โ€ข Total eradication of mosquitoes here and now (to the authorities!).

โ€ข Mosquito nets and repellents โ€“ your mandatory armor.

โ€ข Isolation of those showing symptoms after trips to Asia, Africa, or Europe. No bites!
Conclusion: Cyprus is on the brink of an epidemic that won't kill but could make thousands chronically disabled. Time to act was yesterday.

๐Ÿฆ  Measles outbreak in Limassol: children hospitalized, Ministry of Health urges vaccination
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ According to the Cyprus Ministry of Health data from August 8, 2025, a cluster of new measles cases has been identified in Limassol.

๐Ÿš‘ The condition of some sick children required hospitalization.

๐Ÿฅ Medical institutions have strengthened epidemiological control.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ Pediatricians are reminding parents of the critical importance of vaccinations as the primary means of preventing this dangerous disease.

๐Ÿค’ Measles, which most vulnerably affects children, manifests with a set of symptoms: high fever, catarrhal symptoms (cough, runny nose), eye inflammation, and gradual rash appearance.

โ—๏ธ Without timely vaccination, the disease can cause life-threatening complications, including pneumonia and encephalitis.

๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ The high contagiousness of measles is due to airborne transmission and the virus's ability to survive for a long time in the air and on objects, which is especially dangerous for unvaccinated people in enclosed spaces.

๐Ÿ Motorcycle ride in memory of heroes Tase Isaak and Solomos Solomou: Journey across Cyprus to freedom
The Isaak-Solomou Memorial Initiative once again honored the feat of two heroes of Famagusta. After 29 years, motorcyclists took to the roads with a sense of duty and remembrance, paying tribute to Tase Isaak and Solomos Solomou.

Traditionally, the two-day motorcycle ride started this time from the heroic village of Kyprounta. On the evening of August 7, with the participation of local authorities, one of the village streets was named Isaak-Solomou โ€“ โ€œPath of Valor.โ€ The choice of the ascending road symbolizes the path to freedom.

In the presence of the mother, brothers, and daughter of Tase Isaak, the residents of Kyprounta honored the memory of the heroes, immortalizing their story next to the new street name. This is a reminder to the older generation and a lesson of courage for the youth about the last two heroes of Hellenism in Cyprus.

The participants spent the night in Kyprounta, and on the morning of August 8, the column moved towards the checkpoints in the Nicosia area. After symbolically closing the Astromeritis checkpoint, the motorcyclists honored the memory of two unjustly killed members of the Initiative: first in Peristerona, then in Mammari โ€“ Konstantinos Puru Hadjimikhaile and Yorgos Platis.

Next, the route passed by the sacred Macedonitissa mound and the checkpoints of Ayios Dhometios, Ledra Palace, and Ledra Street. These symbolic closure actions were a form of resistance against legitimizing the occupation and a reminder of unsolved murders. It was a protest against the entrenchment of dividing lines and the need to show documents to move around oneโ€™s own land.

After completing the ride, the participants pledged to continue the struggle, inspired by the universal valor of Tase and the boundless courage of Solomos. The Isaak-Solomou Memorial Initiative, represented by participants from all cities of free Cyprus, will take part in the unveiling of the heroesโ€™ monument. The ceremony will take place on August 9 at 20:00, initiated by the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ Poland strengthens its position as the second largest source of tourists for Paphos
Statistics for 2025 have definitively established Poland as the second most important source of tourists for Paphos, second only to the United Kingdom. Data on passenger traffic, bookings, and direct flights show steady growth observed since 2024.

Key indicators:
โ€ข 50% of Polish tourists arriving in Cyprus choose Paphos.
โ€ข Air traffic has reached a 30-year record โ€” up to 20 weekly flights from 6 cities in Poland.
โ€ข Ryanair holds a leading position on this route, controlling the majority of transportation.

Regional authorities actively use these trends to develop bilateral cooperation:
โ€ข Tour operators receive targeted information about Paphos' opportunities.
โ€ข The concept of a year-round tourist destination is being promoted.
โ€ข The Polish market is recognized as a strategic priority for the region.

The increase in tourist flow is linked to the expansion of Ryanair's low-cost flight program to Paphos, which in recent years has provided a significant increase in the number of tourists.

๐Ÿ”Š TSO Cyprus reports stability of the power system and full satisfaction of electricity demand.
Key points from the TSO representative, Hara Kousiappa:

1. Electricity production, both from renewable sources and traditional methods, fully meets the current increased demand.

2. No power supply interruptions are expected in the foreseeable future unless serious unforeseen incidents occur.

3. The energy situation today is similar to yesterday: the system reliably copes with peak hour and nighttime needs, when traditional generation predominates.

4. Current indicators (around 12:30):
โ€“ Demand: 1002 MW
โ€“ Traditional generation: 480 MW
โ€“ Solar energy (distributed): 513 MW
โ€“ Wind power: 9 MW

5. Forecast for the evening peak (19:00โ€“19:30): Demand is expected to be met by traditional energy sources, as solar power generation significantly decreases by that time.

6. The main risk lies in possible problems that may arise only in the event of a serious system failure.

Thus, the system operator (TSO) confirms the reliability of the Cyprus power system even under high demand.
