๐ Tragedy in Aglandia: 20-Year-Old Kyriakos Antoniou Dies in Car Accident Caused by Speeding Driver Ignoring Traffic Rules
A tragedy occurred in Aglandia when 20-year-old Kyriakos Antoniou became a victim of a traffic accident. The driver who hit him was reportedly traveling at speeds of up to 150 km/h on Larnaca Avenue, where the speed limit is only 50 km/h. Deputy Mayor Andreas Konstantinou expressed dissatisfaction with the police's inaction, as they failed to respond to multiple reports about the unsafe road conditions. The local community is demanding urgent measures to ensure safety, as this is not the first accident in the area. Konstantinou emphasized that ignoring warnings could lead to further tragedies.

At the previous hearing on July 23, the "court" granted the "police's" request to extend the "interrogation" for eight days, despite defense statements regarding gross human rights violations.

๐ Amathus: Vase Similar to the Franรงois Vase Discovered โ New Significant Findings in the Ancient Palace
Recent excavations at the palace of Amathus have led to significant discoveries, including an impressive spiral crater, akin to the famous Franรงois Vase. A complete plan of the ceremonial hall, dating to the late 9th century BC, has also been documented, confirming the palace's status as the oldest known Iron Age palace in Cyprus.
During the research conducted from June 16 to July 4, 2025, under the guidance of Professors Thierry Petit and Jean-Franรงois Ge, two new excavation zones were uncovered, revealing unique architectural elements and the largest collection of Attic black-figure and red-figure pottery on the island. This collection spans from 570โ550 BC to the mid-4th century BC.
The study of archaeological finds continued until July 24, 2025, and its results highlight the importance of Amathus as a key historical site, offering new perspectives for understanding the culture and art of ancient Cyprus.

๐ In one of the houses in Cyprus, located in the yard, a one-meter-long viper snake was spotted. Due to this, it became necessary to call a snake catcher at night.
We remind you that a snake can climb anywhere: bushes, pool, garage, toilet, storage room, etc. During the heat, they look for shade for themselves. (Click on the words to see previous videos of where snakes have climbed)

๐ New Ministry of Health rules: Mandatory examination of patients in emergency departments within 10 minutes and implementation of a service quality assessment system
From today, patients admitted to emergency departments must be examined within 10 minutes of arrival. The new Ministry of Health rules also allow patients to evaluate the quality of service through questionnaires that will be sent by email after the visit.
The questionnaire includes 9 questions, 7 of which will affect the calculation of insurance reimbursements. Patients will be able to assess information about their condition, waiting time, cleanliness, and quality of services in the department.
Additionally, standards have been set for the time of care: 90% of patients must be assessed within 10 minutes, and care for categories 1 and 2 must be provided within 10 minutes. Different time frames are established for other categories. Also, no more than 5% of patients may leave without care or return within 72 hours. The Department of Health will evaluate departments based on these criteria.
