🔥Fire in residential area of Nicosia district
Monday evening the Fire Service mobilized after a blaze broke out in old abandoned warehouses in Agios Dometios, Nicosia district. Videos circulating show thick black smoke blanketing the neighbourhood and reducing visibility over nearby homes. Residents came out into the streets, visibly unsettled, to see what was happening. Strong firefighting teams are on site carrying out suppression, cooling hotspots and securing the scene. Traffic is being managed locally while crews work; investigations into the cause are underway.

👮Larnaca: New arrests over theft of gun rack and large cash sum
Police arrest two more suspects in Larnaca burglary case — a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old Greek Cypriots — after an earlier 17-year-old reportedly confessed and named accomplices. Stolen items — two double-barrel shotguns and a safe containing €72,950 — were recovered buried on a farm in Aradippou following the first detainee's indication. The 46-year-old homeowner had reported a night-time break-in and the removal of a metal gun rack of about 50 kg that held the weapons and cash. Suspects to appear in court for custody orders. 😦25-year-old Christos dies on same Larnaca Avenue stretch as earlier victim
Collision yesterday at 19:20 in Aglantzia. 25-year-old Tsamisia Christos Tsanggaridis rode a high‑capacity motorcycle toward the university and struck a scooter ridden by a 19‑year‑old food delivery worker from India, both moving in the same direction. The two bikes overturned; the 25‑year‑old’s machine hit a parked car. He was not wearing a helmet and died instantly. The 19‑year‑old received first aid and was discharged. Alcohol and drug tests were negative; he was arrested under warrant and detained. This is the second fatal crash on that stretch in seven months. Calls for traffic cameras are renewed.
