๐Ÿ“Central Prisons dossier: same unresolved issues after 12 years
Document found in the chief jailerโ€™s home among classified files. It shows that, twelve years on, central prisons still face rapes, beatings, murders, suicides, uprisings and a group of hardened inmates with their own informal rules. Letter dated 18 Feb 2014 from MMAD commander Savvas Christou to Justice Minister Ionas Nicolaou recommends measures. Christou recalls five serial suicides, rape of a 22โ€‘yearโ€‘old and an uprising; MMAD intervened for about a month. He was surprised to find his original documents in prison archives. Eight suspects in the documents case are due for trial on 30 Jan.

๐Ÿš“Traffic congestion on Lord Byron Avenue in Nicosia
Police bulletin: congestion affecting Lord Byron Avenue in the capital. Drivers are asked to use Michalaki Karaoli Street as an alternative route. On Michalaki Karaoli only one lane of traffic is open, so reduced capacity and slower flows are expected. Motorists should obey traffic officers and signage, reduce speed, keep safe distances and allow extra travel time. Where possible choose different routes or public transport to ease delays. Authorities monitor the situation and urge cautious driving.
