🤨Pegasus plane flew over Nicosia
PGT1885 crossed Nicosia after 21:00, residents reported strong noise.
Logged as A320 TC‑NCL, departed Tymbou for Ankara.
Minutes after takeoff flew an unusual southward track, crossed the capital at about 9,000–10,000 ft, then turned north.
Route and lower altitude explain intense noise; most ECN departures head north to join routes to Turkey.
Unknown if weather prompted change or if Nicosia FIR was notified.
Tymbou is not ICAO‑recognized; operations raise flight safety and FIR surveillance concerns.
No official explanation yet; incident may revive debate on irregular flights.

📊Rage as a Business Model
As 2025 ends, about ten tech giants reshape how we move, behave and think, turning opinions into products. Their algorithms reward outrage; "rage bait" — content made to provoke anger — was named word of the year.

Report: Cyprus newcomer Fidias Panayiotou is a case study. He posts to provoke, gain clicks and money, not from conviction, and amplifies any divisive line that drives attention.

Note: Beyond single figures, our lives have become internet performance. The debate must continue.

Twins named after Cypriot doctor who saved them
A Sussex couple visited King's College Hospital London to thank Prof Kypros Nicolaides.
At six months' scan twins were found with twin-to-twin transfusion; one was one third larger and both at risk.
Prof Nicolaides used fetal laser surgery to ablate shared placental vessels, rebalancing blood flow; the smaller twin improved within a week.
Parents named the boys Kypros and Nikolas. Prof Nicolaides, 72, from Paphos, is a pioneer of fetal medicine. He has worked at King's since 1980.

🤜Cyprus among Europe's most xenophobic, ESS finds
New ESS rounds record sharp drops in trust in institutions and a wide gap between democratic values and practice. ESS Round 12 data collection started 10 Nov 2025; randomly selected households received invitations; the household member with the next birthday is asked to participate; questionnaires are self‑completed on paper or online. Rounds 10 (2022) and 11 (2024) show enduring distrust of politicians and parties, while EU institutions and the UN score higher. Cyprus ranks among the ten most xenophobic of 31 countries. Additional Cyprus items on the Cyprus problem and intercommunal relations will follow. Participation of invited households is vital for representative results.
