😐Tourists climb ancient Apollo Ylatis monument in Limassol to pose
Photographs show tourists mounting the monument of the Sanctuary of Apollo Ylatis near Limassol to take pictures. The images, shared on social media by decorator Sotiris Giannakou, prompted his public reaction. He wrote that he found a site carrying thousands of years of history treated as a simple backdrop. He said he felt sadness, anger and a sense of helplessness watching respect for the place trampled. He stressed these monuments are fragile, form part of collective identity and heritage, and urged visitors to act with greater care and respect.

🩺RSV rise: when children may need hospital care
RSV positivity up 6–8% in Europe; mainly affects under-5s. ECDC expects peak late Nov–early Dec; Cyprus shows gradual rise. Infants under six months at higher risk; RSV can lead to hospitalization and accounts for about 40% of pediatric admissions, often requiring ~1 week. Advice: keep newborns and infants <6 months away from school‑age contacts. Two preventive options: maternal vaccination in weeks 32–36 or two weeks before birth; and a monoclonal for infants born Oct–Mar or high‑risk 8–24 months. Officials urge parents to discuss vaccination with their paediatrician. Flu and COVID vaccination underway.

🎤Hasapopoulos: Odysseas promoted by patronage, sent material via WhatsApp
Hasapopoulos, former close aide to the ex‑Auditor General, made serious claims on the podcast Not Fake The Podcast. He says Odysseas Michailidis sent him text and photo material via WhatsApp so he would post it on the pro‑Auditor General support page that Hasapopoulos managed. Michailidis allegedly preferred that app because the chat was harder to trace. Hasapopoulos says he will publish the messages. Michailidis has told the Supreme Court he had no link to the page. Hasapopoulos also alleges Michailidis was appointed and promoted in the Audit Service through patronage by then DISY leader Averof Neophytou to President Anastasiades, and questions his anti‑corruption claims.

🥳Dashcams: bill to unlock judicial use of vehicle recordings
Ecologists table bill at Transport Committee to set rules for dashcams in cars: installation, user rights, operation and conditional recording. Party president Stavros Papadouris says measure fills a legal gap as many new or retrofitted vehicles carry cameras. Modern G-sensors can save predefined clips — e.g. 10 seconds before and after an incident — into a safety file. Courts must consider such material but it is admissible only if a court order issues. Provision covers accidents, vehicle breaches and other crimes. Data Protection Commissioner to issue regulatory criteria.

🔊 Driving opposite direction on the Nicosia highway (at Alapra exit) #RoadReportCY
Nicosia, 17 November 2025 – Dangerous driving behavior was caught on dashcam earlier this morning on the Nicosia highway, at the Alapra exit. A red compact car was seen traveling in the opposite direction of traffic around 10:02 AM, forcing oncoming vehicles to take evasive action to avoid a potential collision.

The incident was captured in full by a dashcam, clearly showing the car veering into the wrong lane while a large truck and several other vehicles were traveling safely in their designated lanes. The driver’s actions created a highly hazardous situation for all road users.

Authorities are reminding motorists to remain vigilant, adhere to traffic signs, and immediately report any vehicles traveling the wrong way. Driving against the flow of traffic remains one of the most dangerous violations on Cypriot roads and can lead to severe accidents.

The dashcam footage highlights the need for continued awareness and caution on highways, especially around exits and merges where such incidents are more likely to occur.

RoadReportCY urges drivers: Always stay alert, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and report dangerous driving to help prevent accidents.
