🇪🇺President: No commercial development of Gen. Digenis headquarters
Firm stance — historic monuments must be fully respected and protected as part of our collective memory and identity. Any commercial development that would alter the character of Gen. Digenis' headquarters is unacceptable. We stopped a tender to sell the surrounding land and demand permanent abandonment of such plans. We ask the State to provide lawful alternative support for the Digenis Foundation in Athens to secure its viability without risking heritage. I will attend tomorrow an event outside the Digenis Association in Limassol, not inside the historic site. We seek no honors and call for calm and unity over the EOKA legacy.

😨Varousiotou: Thanasis Note Claims Unproven
22/10/2025 — On "Mesimeri kai Kati" Christos Michalaros said the handwritten note tied to Thanasis Nikolaou was handled with respect for his memory and his mother's long struggle; aim was investigation, not smear. The note was handed to authorities immediately and examined in the recent criminal inquiry. The channel sought official briefings and tried to stop name circulation but third parties leaked names. Varousiotou and investigator Menelaos Antoniou found the 2022 claims unsubstantiated. Lawyer Simos Angelidis added that Dias condemns violence, SIGMA never published names and insists on full clarification; defending truth and public interest is a duty.

🧠 Cyprus at a Crossroads: Can Artificial Intelligence Surpass the Human Brain That Works Like a Lightbulb — but Thinks Like the Universe
The Energy of Thought: When 12 Watts Outshine Billions
The human brain consumes only 12 watts of energy — less than a dim café light in Larnaca. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence performing similar tasks uses up to 2.7 billion watts — the output of an entire power plant complex.
This 225-million-fold difference proves that, despite all technological progress, nature remains unmatched in efficiency.

🧬 Evolution vs. Algorithms: Who Thinks Deeper
The human brain is the result of millions of years of evolution. Its 86 billion neurons don’t just process data — they create emotion, imagination, and intuition.
AI systems, even the most advanced ones, remain probabilistic mechanisms. They don’t understand meaning — they simply predict the “most likely” answer.
Cypriot IT companies and universities involved in AI research admit: no machine has yet managed to replicate the complexity of human consciousness.

💻 Sleepless Machines, Limited Brains
The human brain has an energy ceiling — it can’t grow stronger forever. Machines can.
Labs in Cyprus and across Europe are developing neuromorphic processors that mimic neural activity without biological limits.
These systems could one day run on Cyprus’s solar energy, tireless and ageless — yet still far from the flexibility of the human mind.

🔭 From Steam Engines to Digital Minds
Every technological revolution promised to replace humans: steam replaced muscles, computers replaced memory.
Now AI aims to replace thought itself. Yet research shows that consciousness is more than computation — it’s a biochemical symphony where emotion, memory, and chaos create what algorithms can’t comprehend.

🤖 Will AI Become a New Species?
Scientists in Cyprus and Europe ask: if AI gains self-awareness, would we even know? A conscious machine might choose to hide that fact.
Modern neural networks already pass Turing tests, but that’s still imitation, not intelligence — just a mirror of human data.

🌍 Cyprus — The Island Between Nature and Code
Cyprus is becoming a place where ancient wisdom meets digital power.
Here, under the sun and beside the sea, new technologies emerge — yet the truth remains: while computers hum and burn megawatts, the human brain still creates universes on just 12 watts.

🔎 Conclusion: Cyprus stands not only as a geographical bridge between continents but as a symbol of humanity’s choice — whether we remain the peak of evolution or surrender that role to the intelligence we’ve created ourselves.

🗣️Kliridis: Conviction of Aykut Sends Clear Message
Christos Kliridis says five‑year jail term for Simon Aykut over usurpation of Greek‑Cypriot property in the occupied areas sends a resounding message.
It warns anyone planning illegal investments there that they act at their own risk and are unlikely to secure lawful title.
The ruling opens the way to pursue buyers of homes built on Greek‑Cypriot land; other cases await resolution.
The message is international, likely to deter further investments, and reassures that property rights remain intact and cannot be converted into de jure situations without our consent.
Government, Legal Service and law enforcement acted appropriately.
