🚿Thousands of Nicosia residents remain without water — disruption continues
Water flow reduced in many households after a network fault. Repair completed on 28/08; water released through the existing network to municipal and community reservoirs. Two successive faults mean gradual restoration.

Residents: New complaints from Lakatamia and Anagyas — days without proper supply, water trickles, deliveries in doses, unclear answers from authorities.

District Admin: Pressure kept low to prevent further pipe damage; raised slowly to avoid new breaks. Some building pressure pumps need adjustment; crews assisting.

Outlook: Supply expected to reach all affected premises by tonight; normal pressure to return over next days.

🏖️September too with high temperatures, dams' situation hard to save
Temperatures climb again from Monday and may approach 40°C. The first day of September is forecast around 38–39°C, with smaller rises of 1–2°C in coastal and mountainous zones. The hot pattern is expected to continue through the end of next week. Reservoirs are critically low at 14.7% total capacity, worsening the island’s water shortfall. Seasonal forecasts for rain are not promising; authorities warn that even a wet winter might not fully restore supplies.

Meteorological officer Andreas Chrysanthou says one to two consecutive years of strong rainfall could be needed to recover dam levels.

👾Students and AI: How ChatGPT can become a useful tool for schoolwork
AI now part of teens' daily lives; many use it for homework and personal advice.

Study: 26% of 13–17-year-olds used ChatGPT for assignments last year. Exams suggest AI can reduce learning opportunities. Sotiris Chatzis, Associate Professor at TEPAK and member of the National Committee for AI, urges constructive use: find sources, get explanations, learn.
He calls for older teaching methods and more personalized assessment. Students must think, study and avoid parroting.

Use AI to ask smart questions, spark ideas and complement learning; original work must remain theirs. Teens should learn AI skills without becoming dependent.

🪦Grave of little Lambros vandalized for second time
Breaking: For a second time in a short period the grave of little Lambros was sprayed with red paint.

Parents: We do not seek to blame the local authority, but ask for measures — lighting, guarding, better protection — because there are ways to prevent this. After the first incident we cleaned the monument thinking it would not happen again; today we found the same sad sight.

Father's message: Someone with a sick soul keeps attacking the memorial. Lambros is not there; the memorial is, he is in God's glory. Such acts wound us, his parents. Amid the pain we keep our trust in God and the blessing of Lambros; his memory remains light and blessing for all.

⛪️Tychikos heads to Phanar, metropolitan elections delayed
Former Metropolitan of Paphos Tychikos prepares to travel to the Phanar to present his appeal against the Church of Cyprus decision that declared him deposed.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate has received files from both sides and, after an initial review, requests his personal appearance to clarify outstanding questions. The Phanar will function as an appellate instance and has invited Tychikos to attend a session expected around mid‑October. Officials stress the process is routine and not preordained.

The delay in a final ruling postpones elections for a new Metropolitan of Paphos until the appeal is resolved.
