🏛Cyprus Intelligence Officer Transferred After Threat Complaint

A female officer of the Cyprus Intelligence Service (CIS) has been reassigned to the Aliens and Immigration Department after a complaint by Nikolette Andreou-Tsikkini, who alleges the officer threatened her.

Tsikkini claims she received a message on August 19 reading: “Humble yourself or I will make sure to expose your dirty laundry.” She later revealed the officer’s identity — an act considered a criminal offense under the 2016 CIS Law, punishable by up to five years in prison and a €150,000 fine.

The case will be examined by the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee on September 15. Chair Irene Charalambidou noted it highlights broader concerns over the duties of services meant to protect citizens. Police said only that the matter is being handled by the competent authorities.

🇬🇷😱Mass Shooting at Minneapolis Catholic School: Two Children Dead
Two children were killed and 17 others injured Wednesday when a gunman opened fire at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. Authorities identified the shooter as 23-year-old Robin Westman, who reportedly acted alone and later committed suicide.
Court and public records show Westman had legally changed his name from Robert in 2020. He had no prior criminal record. Videos and writings released hours before the attack showed the shooter expressing admiration for previous mass killers and planning the assault.
The FBI is investigating the incident as a possible hate crime targeting Catholics and as an act of domestic terrorism. Officials emphasized that the tragedy should not be used to target the transgender community.

🚰Cyprus Strengthens Drinking Water Supply Amid Drought Concerns
The Water Development Department (WDD) has reaffirmed that ensuring sufficient and high-quality drinking water remains a top priority, following reports of supply issues in mountainous communities. The WDD monitors the situation closely and implements measures in collaboration with local authorities and the Geological Survey Department, including new well drilling and infrastructure upgrades.

Ongoing initiatives include mobile desalination units in key locations with a total capacity over 45,000 m³/day, loss reduction projects worth over €10 million, and support for small private desalination units in hotels. Temporary water deliveries via tankers are used only for emergencies.

The WDD emphasizes that responsible water use is crucial, noting Cyprus ranks high in global water stress while consumption remains disproportionally high. A digital platform, “Stagonometro,” helps households track daily water use.

📊 And the most alarming thing is that calculations show that it will approach the Earth as early as November 2025. Skeptics consider this a fantasy, but supporters of the hypothesis are sure: humanity must prepare for the worst-case scenario.
