🔊 Residents of the affected areas are suffering from a lack of information and assistance amid the raging fire.
▪️We spent the entire night glued to our phones, exchanging news, as the "responsible" authorities kept us in the dark about the progress of the fire. There was no information on the Cyprus Fire Service's page regarding the situation's development. It's a disgrace!

▪️There were no indications of when we should evacuate our area. People risked their lives trying to figure out if they could do anything to save their property, only to find that there was no water in the area and no fire trucks. How is this possible?

▪️When I noticed that my phone had no signal, I tried to contact the emergency service at 112 to find out if we were in danger. Their response was: "You will be informed by the village leader and neighbors if you need to leave." Are you serious?! Where do we live, after all?!

▪️When I explained that I had no signal and how exactly the village leader was supposed to inform me, as well as that my house is in a remote area with no neighbors, their response was: "Okay, we have noted your number and will inform you if you need to evacuate."

▪️The fire came within a breath's distance from my house—it was a matter of minutes to get away. I didn't receive a single call or missed call.

▪️ I can't imagine if I had been waiting for their help—I'd be gone by now.
