📍 Limassol | On-site
🇬🇧 English: B2

We’re looking for an experienced Games Scout to join Alawar 💥

We’re expanding our publishing efforts and looking for someone who has a strong understanding of the PC/Steam market and knows how to identify promising indie games and teams early.

This role goes well beyond sourcing projects. We’re looking for someone who can discover, evaluate, and engage — combining strong market awareness and product judgment with the ability to build relationships with developers.

What you’ll be doing:
— Scout promising indie games and studios across Steam, festivals, industry events, communities, accelerators, and other relevant channels
— Evaluate projects from a product and commercial perspective: gameplay loop, audience, genre dynamics, competitors, market fit, and key risks
— Monitor Steam trends, emerging mechanics, successful releases, and signals from short-form gaming content and creators
— Build and maintain relationships with developers and introduce strong teams to Alawar
— Prepare clear recommendations and present promising opportunities to our producers and BD team
— Grow a strong professional network across the indie ecosystem and represent Alawar at conferences and industry events

We’re particularly interested in candidates who:
— Have experience scouting PC/Steam titles, ideally with a track record of projects they personally discovered and helped bring to a publisher
— Have deep knowledge of the indie PC market and strong gaming expertise across genres
— Can separate personal taste from product and commercial potential
— Understand Steam analytics and use external market intelligence tools
— Have strong networking and communication skills and are comfortable proactively approaching developers
— Work independently and know how to build their own scouting pipeline rather than rely on predefined sources
— Are fluent in both English and Russian

We’re also open to candidates from publishing and business development who have strong market knowledge, an established developer network, and want to focus more deeply on scouting.

Why Alawar?
Alawar is both a game developer and publisher, with strong in-house development and product expertise. In this role, you’ll work closely with experienced producers, developers, and business development professionals, bringing promising opportunities into the company and helping shape our publishing pipeline.

It’s a role with a high level of ownership: we’re looking for someone who can build a systematic approach to scouting, develop a strong network across the indie ecosystem, and become a key point of expertise for identifying new publishing opportunities.

At the heart of the role is a difficult but exciting question:
Which games and teams should we believe in before the rest of the market does?
If this sounds like your area of expertise, I’d be happy to connect. Send me a DM or share the post with someone you think we should meet.
