Today, September 11, from 11:00 to 14:00, Cyprus is witnessing a nationwide strike.

Thirteen trade unions are demanding the full reinstatement of the wage indexation system (ATA). Slogans such as “ATA for everyone” and “ATA in its true spirit” symbolize the protest and the unity of workers.

📍 Demonstrations are taking place simultaneously:
• Nicosia — outside the Ministry of Finance
• Limassol — near the Administrative Building
• Larnaca — at the District Administration
• Paralimni — at the local Ministry of Labour office

• Airports: Over 50 flights from Larnaca and Paphos cancelled or rescheduled, impacting more than 15,000 passengers, including Jazeera Airways (Kuwait), Qatar Airways (Doha), and Emirates (Dubai–Larnaca–Malta). Extra staff will be deployed after 14:00.
• Schools: All primary and secondary schools closed at 11:00. Parents had to pick up children themselves, with no return bus routes. Meals in after-school and special education programs suspended.
• Hospitals: State hospitals and clinics closed between 11:00 and 14:00. Routine operations and appointments postponed, though emergency services remain available.
• Transport: Bus schedules disrupted across Cyprus; passengers advised to expect delays and cancellations.
• Public services: Citizen service centers closed during strike hours. Scheduled appointments rescheduled and citizens notified.

🚓 Traffic: Police warn of congestion near protest sites and urge drivers to follow instructions to maintain order.
