It was understood that your question is related to the tax treatment of a Cyprus tax resident having income “individual businessman” from Russia.
To this respect, the concept of “individual businessman” is not covered in the provision of the Cyprus law. The local legislation is separated into three categories; employees, pensioners and self-employed.
Therefore, the specific “individual businessman” concept falls under our self-employed category.
**From Cyprus tax perspective, the specific income is taxed in Cyprus and the individual can claim tax credit for any income tax paid abroad derived from this specific income up to the amount of the Cyprus income tax.
**The above is covered in the Article 5 of the Income Tax Law.
