I would like to bring to your attention the issue concerning the constraints of arranging an appointment for applicants of visitor visas through the online booking system, brought about by the system permitting multiple bookings.

It seems that there are single ‘representatives’ reserving multiple slots, keeping them as spares, then letting them expire, unless assigned to a ‘customer’.

This on its own creates a chain of issues.

Without having a chance to book their appointment in due time, the applicants are exposed to the risk of overstaying their visas.

This leads to the rise in popularity of services offered by ‘representatives’. The said ‘representatives’ book up the slots and provide them to applicants for remuneration.

The abovesaid increases the corruption element of the application process and decreases the attractiveness of Cyprus for visitor visa applicants, as it overcomplicates the process for application to the point of inability to apply without such representative help.

I would like to propose to add verification via the applicants’ mobile number/email and limit the number of slots that could be booked per mobile number/email.
