Backend Developer (Java / Fineract + Nodejs / NestJS, PostgreSQL)

Planet 9 is a fast-growing fintech company building next-generation infrastructure for trading, lending, and digital banking. We are reshaping the financial landscape and looking for a backend developer who is confident in Java and Node.js, and has a passion for building robust systems integrated with core banking platforms like Apache Fineract.

Responsibilities
• Work with Apache Fineract and PaymentHub: integration, customization, and extension
• Develop backend services using Java (Spring or similar frameworks)
• Collaborate on Node.js microservices built with TypeScript and NestJS for auxiliary functionality
• Design scalable PostgreSQL schemas and write optimized queries (native SQL or Prisma ORM)
• Build and optimize search functionality using ElasticSearch
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performance financial systems
• Contribute to system architecture and participate in design discussions for modern banking infrastructure

Requirements
• 3+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong experience with Java (Spring or similar frameworks)
• Solid knowledge of Node.js and TypeScript (NestJS)
• Experience with PostgreSQL and writing complex queries
• Understanding of ElasticSearch and search optimization
• Hands-on experience with integration of financial or banking APIs
• Understanding of scalable architectures, modular design, and clean code principles
• Experience in banking or fintech is highly desirable

Nice to Have
• Direct experience working with Apache Fineract or PaymentHub
• Familiarity with credit/deposit systems, loan processing, and core banking concepts
• Exposure to regulated environments and secure microservice design
• Knowledge of KYC/AML, payment processing, or credit scoring mechanisms
