ML/DS Engineer / Historica

Historica is an interactive app for exploring history through a dynamic map.
We’re looking for a talented ML/DS Engineer (part-time) to help us develop AI solutions for processing and analyzing historical data. You’ll be working on LLM optimization, clustering algorithms, and more.
What you’ll work on:
• Optimizing clustering of large numbers of data points in 2D space
• Improving LLM response accuracy and stability, validating outputs
• Crafting follow-up queries to refine historical data
• Supporting backend logic and data processing
• Tackling non-standard tasks: parallelization (Numba, CUDA), big data optimization, working with vector databases
Requirements:
🔹 Experience with LLMs: query optimization, response parsing and validation
🔹 Understanding of basic logic: knowledge of Turing machines is a must, stateless machines – a plus. Also, a mindset that some problems can’t be solved head-on :)
🔹 Proficiency in Python
🔹 Experience with databases: SQL or PostgreSQL
🔹 Understanding of algorithmic complexity (nice to have)
🔹 Classical ML: clustering, working with multidimensional spaces, decision trees
🔹 Ability to learn fast
🔹 Interest in history (or at least some basic knowledge) is a big plus
