The reason for this requirement, is because soldered joints are subject to failure from the vibration environment that the wiring harness is exposed to with the engine running and while driving the car. Further, soldered wiring joints are not resistant to circuit overloads that can heat up the joints and melt the solder provoked by the coexisting vibration, resulting in wire joint separation with immediate failure of the circuit involved.
